LOF 2011
Introduction
In today’s rapidly evolving knowledge- based economy and with the emergence of open innovation model, Intellectual Property (IP) considered as a power tool for economic development and wealth creation, and becomes the most important asset of any company in commercial transactions. IP licensing and technology transfer have been seen as key to the ability of developing countries to catch up with developed ones and to develop their national economies.
The Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF) in cooperation with the Licensing Executives Society- Arab Countries (LES-AC) are organizing the second annual forum "Licensing Opportunities Forum (LOF)" to support outstanding applicable scientific research activities, innovative entrepreneurs and to promote the technology transfer in the Arab region.
LOF 2011 aims to promote opportunities for technology transfer in the Arab region and encourage cooperation among universities and industries and among small and medium-sized and large companies, in addition to protect and commercialize inventions and new technologies available in the region. LOF 2011 will assist the Arab entrepreneurs to know how to use Intellectual Property (IP) in licensing agreements, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and cooperative research and development (R&D) agreements to contribute in the economic development.
This initiative provides an outstanding opportunity to interact and network among international technology-based companies, research centers, in addition to licensing and technology transfer professionals to benefit from their expertise and successful experiences, and utilize the opportunities available in the region.
